Founded in 2015, the upskilling platform Emeritus joined the select club of unicorns at the fore front of the global revolution in education in August 2021 – raising US$650m in Series E and quadrupling its valuation to US$3.2bn. In the fast growing global professional education market (estimated at US$280bn in 2020), the startup has gone from teaching handfuls of students in single classrooms in India to offering over 250 high quality and affordable short courses, degree programs, professional certificates, and senior executive programs in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin to 250,000 students from over 80 countries through partnerships with more than 50 of the world’s top universities. In 2020, Emeritus expanded into K12 education with the US$200m acquisition of iD Tech, double its topline growth on the back of the pandemic and the company is on track to realize more than US$500m in bookings this year, making it the fastest growing ed-tech skilling platform. Learn about the fast speed digital transformation of global education through the formidable journey of Emeritus with the company’s co-founder Chaitanya Kalipatnapu (MBA’06D). The session is hosted by INSEAD Strategy Professor and Deputy Dean Peter Zemsky.
