Driverless Cars – The Hype and the Reality

This event is sponsored by GSMA

Driverless car technology comes with the promise of a safer and cheaper form of transportation that can make efficient use of road space. Google’s prototypes are on the road, and Nissan and others have announced pilot schemes for the UK. But what are the opportunities and challenges for manufacturers, technologists, investors, regulators and city planners?

Key questions for the panel:
• When will we see driverless cars on a commercial scale and what are the challenges in getting there?
• What will this mean for our cities: fewer cars or more car journeys and less public transport?
• Will we see new companies emerge and reap the rewards of this new technology?
