SSUP! – INSEAD Summer Startup Tour
Global Tech Road Trip on Steroids
What is it about?
The Summer Start-Up Tour Programme (SSUP!) is a student-led venture that aims to explore the top entrepreneurial hot spots around the world.
Who is it for?
For aspiring entrepreneurs. SSUP! provides an intense 4-week life changing immersion into the world’s hottest startup hubs and can help shape your future. It has been the starting point of many entrepreneurial careers, for example Sebastien Barthelemy, MBA’17D, Cristina Prat, MBA’19D, Sara Guaglio, MBA’19D, Dr. Ian Braithwaite, MBA’18D Kamakshi Malhotra, MBA’20D, Daniele Packard, MBA’20D, Renée Ros, MBA’19D. MBAs and MIMs are welcome!
What will I be doing?
Silicon Valley, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Dubai… are thriving startup ecosystems. Choose your travel partners, pick up an industry, select your geographies and pack your bag to go and meet founders, VCs and other ecosystem players from the world’s top hotspots. SSUP takes place over 4 weeks in the summer. In return for our extensive support, share your learning on emerging tech, startups, scale ups and rising stars.
What is unique about SSUP!?
SSUP! is different from other start-up tracks organized by INSEAD, as SSUP! is based on learning by active engagement. You will have to act as an entrepreneur, find and build your team, design your own tour, get funds/sponsors (if needed), engage with a broad variety of people, communicate, deliver, and struggle every day to find solutions to problems you never solved before. You will spend time engaging with entrepreneurs, incubators, accelerators, VCs, CVCs, etc. You will experience first-hand the highs and lows of building businesses.
Rules of the Game
- Financial support of 1.800 Euros per team against agreed deliverables (after the tour and for travel expenses only)
- Max. 4 people on a team, 3 usually assures better output
- You may do a virtual tour or part of your tour virtually
- Use provided communication tools
- You may decide to do an ISP (Individual Study Project with faculty)
- No such thing exists for MBAs: Be bold, be creative, be pioneers!
